Raw Materials of Polymeric Electrical Insulators

Acid resistant ECR fiberglass core.


We use many glass filaments to provide high mechanical resistance and make them extremely thin.

They are impregnated with epoxy resin, a thermosetting polymer used in the electrical sector for its dielectric properties.

Manufacturing process

Through vacuum extrusion and compaction at high temperatures.

Acid resistance test

  • Making small cuts in core at 12 mm depth.
  • HN03 – 1 N
  • Applied Voltage: 40.5 / = 23.4 kV: 7,200h for 300 days.
  • Tensile strength: 10,400 kg / cm3, decreases by 5%

Forged fittings in C45 steel, hot-dip galvanized.

  • Silicone products: LSR liquid silicone rubber with high hydrophobicity.
  • Maintenance of hydrophobicity: Characteristic property of silicone rubbers that is an important advantage for outdoor applications, making silicone a superior product to other materials.
  • Hydrophobicity recovery: New silicone oligomers emerge on the surface over time, recovering their hydrophobic character.
  • Resistant to erosion and pollution.
  • Tear resistance increased by the primer process with organic product highly adherent.
  • Transmission of hydrophobicity: The oils that come to the surface impregnate the deposited pollution and make it hydrophobic again.

It is important to ensure that the silicone polymer is over 60% and 70% present for the correct electrical function and its mechanical properties.

Hybrid insulators, a new development with all the advantages: inside it is ceramic insulator and outside it is polymeric. The result makes a difference with its great technical benefits.

Silicone insulators. Another solution that incorporates the advantages of the different components, such as ceramic insulators finished with a silicone layer. By means of this spraying technique, a surface is obtained with the characteristics and advantages of silicone, relative to hydrophobicity, performance improvements and adaptation to especially polluted areas.
